My husband had a atkins diet two years ago. He lost 20 kg´s in two months. Before the weight loss he weighted over 100 kg (height 184 cm). Everything happend very fast. In two months all that fat was gone and some muscular too.
The key of the Atkins dieting is chetosis. As you only eat low carb food your body will have a kind of a poisoning status and it will start to burn the fat. In practice this means if you do not have any sugars in you diet your body will automaticly generate that out of your body fat.
This diet has some problematic sides. It is harmful for the heart and might higher your cholersterol number. At the end of the diet my husband had a meeting with the friends and also drunk some alcohol. That caused a serious problems with the heart during the next day.
